The registration fee entitles a player to participate in the Fall/Spring Season and covers the cost of uniforms, player insurance, national organization fees, and other local expenses. Players registered for the Fall will not need to register again for the Spring. In most cases, the Fall teams will continue in the Spring. Each player will receive a uniform – jersey, shorts, and socks. Players will need shin guards and a ball. Balls, shin guards, equipment bags, and other soccer equipment are available for purchase - click here for more info and order form . No family (multiple child) discounts are available. Some scholarships are available (must be approved by the Regional Commissioner). E-mail AYSO for more information.
Requests for Refunds (if dropping after registering for the spring season) must be received by 31 July. All refunds must be requested in writing to AYSO, 1910 Waxleaf Green, Huntsville, AL 35803 or by email to AYSO.
Girls will be placed on all-girls teams unless you specify a COED team.
Include a practice days preference (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday) if it is necessary for your child to be able to participate. We will do our best. Most likely we will not be able to honor teammate or carpooling requests. No coach requests are allowed. Requesting specific practice days may limit the openings available for your child. Practice day preferences should be written at the bottom of the printed on-line forms. Forms in the Registration Packet have a place to indicate practice day preferences. U5/U6 teams usually practice only one day a week (Mon – Thurs) only and play most games on Friday about 5 pm.
ONCE YOU HAVE REGISTERED – NOW WHAT??? The first week of practice (30-31 July & 4-5 August) will be “Evaluation Practices.” This is a good time to get in shape for soccer and we will use these practices to help us balance the teams. You will receive a post card in the mail about 28 July with instructions for the Evaluation Practices. We will assign players to teams by 10 August. Coaches will notify their players of their practice field and time
for practices after they receive their team rosters.
If you need to update your contact info or change a practice day request after mailing your forms and before team assignments are made, call 882-3701 or E-mail AYSO.
Your child will be placed on a team in the division designated by his age on July 31, 2008. No player may play in a division lower than the division designated by their birth date. Players may play in a division higher than the division designated by their birth date only with the permission of the Regional Commissioner. E-mail AYSO to request permission.
Usually, all practices and most games are held at John Hunt Park (Airport Road and South Memorial Parkway) or at Merrimack Park (near the corner of Drake and Triana). The Fall season for the U10s and above is a competitive season and includes a Regional Tournament. Qualifying teams may advance to an Area and possibly State Tournament. Spring season is considered a training season and does not include competitive tournaments. The Select Program is a highly competitive season with teams participating in one or more AYSO and non-AYSO tournaments.

AYSO is an all-volunteer organization. Each team must have a coach, assistant coach, 2 referees, a team manager, and a league volunteer to participate. Our fees are low only because of our volunteers and the work they do for the organization. One person from each family should be prepared to volunteer for one of our many jobs in order for AYSO to continue to provide an outstanding program. Please indicate on the Volunteer Preference Form, volunteer positions where you would be willing to serve. This form contains a short description of the job. More details can be seen on the Volunteer Job Descriptions . Training is provided and all training is free to volunteers. Volunteers are required to complete a Volunteer Registration Form or Youth Volunteer Registration Form on-line via eayso.org or download the form (see Option 2). Signed copies of the form should be sent to AYSO , 1605 Willowbrook Dr, 35802.
In recent months, the national media has focused on the negative, even violent, behavior of players, coaches and parents involved in youth sports. In a proactive effort to counteract this trend of violence, AYSO has initiated a program called Kids Zone targeted to eliminate negative sideline behavior. It is aimed toward producing a thoroughly positive impact on everyone involved in youth soccer. Parents will be asked to sign a pledge that holds them to the Kids Zone standards. Click Here to preview the Kids Zone Program and Pledge.
