Setting the Pace - (Results Below)What is Setting the Pace? Goal: For every team have a coach, assistant coach, team manager, and 2 referees that are active and supporting their team and the region; to have necessary paperwork turned in; to support the AYSO partners; to exhibit good sportsmanship. Award: Awarded the week of April 17th in the Spring season to the top scoring team in each division. Teams score points for the activities listed below. Awards: Team Party - still to be negotiated. One award for each of the following: U6 Teams Each team will receive Setting the Pace points when they complete or participate in the following activities. Referees associated with players on more than one team will earn points for each team. Last day to earn points will be 9 April 2007. Last day to earn points for U16 and U19 teams is 28 Oct 2007. U16-U19 Teams awards will be made by 11 Nov 2007. Information to be sent to the, Team Manager Coordinator should be emailed to settingthepace@ayso160.org. Ways to Earns Points: 2. 1 point for each volunteer listed in #1 turning in a volunteer registration form that is completed and signed, using www.eAYSO.org, or the volunteer form from the regional web site: www.ayso160.org. Signed forms should be sent to the RC by 13 September 2007, for the fall season, and 15 March 2008, for new volunteers in the Spring Season. Points awarded when forms are received. 3. 1 point for each coach or assistant coach that is “certified”, meaning has completed the Coach Safe Haven Course, this year, or in previous years. Points will be awarded based on the Coach Administrator’s records and class rosters for this year. 4. 2 points for ordering a gift basket, or gift item, from Baskets Your Way and More from 15 August 07 to 9 April 08, based on a report provided by BYW&More, after 9 April 08. Private orders, as well as, orders for the “Thank you for Volunteering” gift basket, or gift item, for the coaches, assistant coaches, team manager, or team referees, will qualify. Identify the team by the ‘coach and division’ when ordering, “Thank you” gift baskets. Private orders will earn points, for all the teams associated with the family ordering. See the Baskets Your Way and More flyer for more information. 5. 2 points having the team pictures made by, Grainger Photography (instructions for arrangements in team notebook and team manager’s folder). Points awarded based on Grainger’s report at the end of the fall season, and again after 9 April 08. 6. 2 points for ordering end of season (fall and/or spring) team trophies from Crown Trophy (form/instructions in team notebook and team manager’s folder). Points will be awarded based on report from Crown Trophy, at the end of the fall season, and again after 9 April 08. 7. 1 point for each game a team referee officiates, as a center, or assistant referee. Points will be awarded based on what is turned in on the game cards and can be deciphered by the Region statisticians. Points will be awarded for games prior to 9 April 08. 8. 2 points for each team volunteer that takes one of the following courses between Jan 07 and March 08:
9. 1 point for each volunteer, on your team, that serves as a board member, or performs a region support activity (such as packing team notebooks, preparing team equipment, registration helpers, nets and fields, tournament volunteer, etc). The RC may, also, advertise for special volunteer help that will earn 2 points or more. Points are awarded by the RC, based on records of who has served in these roles. 10. 1 point for each of the following turned in to the Team Manager Coordinator:
11. 1 point for Scoring an Excellent for Overall Conduct and Sporting Behavior , during games by the players, spectators, and coaches (all three rated excellent for the team). Referees will score the conduct on the game card for each team. If the referee does not get a game card from the team for the game, the team will not earn the point. Red cards issued to a team player will disqualify a team for point. Points will be awarded for games prior to 9 April 08. 12. 1 point for serving as Substitution Monitor for a U16 and U19 game. The Substitution Monitor tracks playing time during a game, in which, the unlimited substitution process is used. The Substitution Monitor should sign the form (legibly) and have it turned in with the game cards (or can substitute as the game card). U6 – Aaron Stolass’s U6C – Grasshoppers U8 – James Farmer’s U8C – Greg Eagles U10 – Steve Kehres’s U10G – Cheetahs U12/U14 – Alan Murphy’s U14C – Blue Strikers U16/U19 – Leo Rodriguez’s U16 Girls – Calientas Highlights! 4 teams scored over 100 points, 1 with over 200 points. The highest scoring team was U16G Rodriguez with 206 points. 4 teams scored over 50 points for volunteering to Referee games. U16G Rodriguez’s team scored over 100 referee points. Great job for volunteering!! U10G Webster earned 11 points for 11 games in which the referee indicated that all players, coaches, and spectator conduct was excellent, displaying the best of the philosophies of AYSO! Congratulations to all our teams for their efforts. Our winning teams have the choice of the following as a prize: $100 reimbursed from a team party (receipts must be provided), OR $5 discount on one player registration for each player on the team.
