Sitting of Sidelines

Players Sitting on Sidelines During Soccer Games

We want to make sure we are following Covid-19 stat guidelines for players sitting on the sideline during a game, water break, or halftime; and keeping players as sage as possible when they are not on the field of play (pitch). Parents, please help!

When players are not on the field during practice, soccer game, water break, halftime, or any other AYSO event, they must remain a social distance of 6 feet. Masks are recommended, but not required since they will be sitting on the "field of play" side of the field. Players will place their soccer gear, water bottles, etc., at least six feet apart, as well as sit by their things when not on the field of play. 

To allow the coaches to coach, depending on the division, we are asking one parent to sit with their player, or one parent to with with all teams players on the player sidelines. Please read the breakdown below for the division your player is in:

4U PLAYGROUND

  1. At least one person required to be on the field with their player to assist
  2. Liability waiver must be signed by the parent for themselves and given to the coach (link below)
  3. Mask is recommended for the parent, but not required

5U, 6U, 7U, 8U

  1. One parent sits with their player(s) on the player sideline during each game
  2. If a parent related to their player(s) is not available, the parent may give verbal permission to the coach for a non-parent to sit with they player(s) on the player sideline
  3. Liability Waiver must be signed by the parent or non-parent for themselves and given to the coach (link below)
  4. Masks are required for all parents or non-parents sitting with players

10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 19U

  1. One parent per team registers as a volunteer Team Parent on our website at www.ayso160.org. (link to registration instructions below)
  2. The Team Parent will sit on the player sideline to ensure all players who are not on the field of play remain at the social distance of 6 feet
  3. Liability Waiver must be signed by the Team Parent for themselves and given to the coach (link below)
  4. Team Parents are required to take online Safe Haven and CDC Concussion training; this is a normal requirement for Team Parents (link to online training in AYSOU below)
  5. Masks are required for Team Parents
